I just recently moved into a brand new house. To date it is only 5 months old. Yesturday for the first time I took a bath in my tub, low and behold I go downstairs into the kitchen to see that my kitchen ceiling now has a hole and water was all over my kitchen floor. I know nothing about plumbling however I have been taking showers for the past 5 months and no leak... what happened? What do I do now? What needs to be done to get it fixed! PLEASE HELP!!

If you have a access hole behind the tub open it and check to see exactly where the leak's coming from. If there is no access hole then you have no other option but to open up the ceiling. Cut a square hole and save the cutout piece, you will be patching it back later. Now close the tub stopper and run water in the tub. Does it leak with the stopper closed? Where from?
Now drain it. Any leaks there and where are they? Fill the tub with as much water as you take a bath in. Could there be a chance that you splashed water over the side of the tub when you bathed? Let me know what you find and then we'll go about fixing it. Cheers, Tom
