    Babbling Brook
Sounds like a babbling brook is running under my house. It is a constant steady sound, yet very quiet. My water bill hasn't increased, but it worries me... any ideas what it would be? I'm trying to avoid crawling in the muddy crawl space under my house.

Well, something's going on down there. Let's find out what. Make sure no water's running in the house and go out to the meter. Is the little pointer moving at all? Let me know Regards, Tom

REALLY silly question... uh... where's the meter? I know where the electricity meter is... and the gas meter... but I can't find the water meter.

Morgan unless you have a well there is a water meter on your house maybe inside where the pipe enters or outside just prior to the entry. Are you on a well? If so kill the power to the pump

Okay... really, REALLY silly question... where does the water enter the house? I'm a fairly intelligent person... really, but I don't know a THING about this stuff... and no, I'm on city water - no well. There's a City water thing down by the street (in my yard), but no meter.

OK the water usually enters from the street side of the house under ground. There must be a meter some where so the city can read you usage. If you can't find it call your city water department and they'll come out especially if you mention the brook.
