    Depends on the building code at the time of construction. I usually put them every 10 feet or where the home owner tells me they want fixtures, but no more than 10 feet.

    There is no minimum distance outlets can be apart, the maximum is 12 feet.

    The 12 foot rule is the way to go...
    That is even part of the N.E.C.. . I do believe.
    Unless you want them closer.
