    Ceiling fan wiring
I have an Harbor Breeze ceiling fan. The fan portion pull string pulled out and damaged the plastic four wire fan switch. The instruction on the new part that I bought said to be sure to replace the wires in the same outlet they are removed from. Needless to say the wires were already pulled out for the existing switch as it was in pieces. Any one know the wiring sequence or how I can down load the schematics from the web? The wire colors are black, white, green and brown. The switch has outlets labeled: L, 1, 2, 3. The word STRIP appears between the L and the 3. The numbering sequence is counterclockwise from the word STRIP (L - 1 - 2 - 3).

No, that's why you mark the old wires before you remove them. All I can suggest is to try different combinations until it works. Black is usually L. More information is here:

Thanks for the input. At first I was disheartened a bit but then I followed the link and, after adjusting for my color blindness, used the reference wiring pattern and the fan works great! Now, about the screw I lost...

Lol that's what hardware stores are for. Glad you got it worked out.

So, I can add black, white, green and brown to the reference wiring? :)
