    Water pressure to low
I have a well with a submersible 1/2 HP pump. The pressure switch is 30/50 psi and working as it should. The water pressure in the house is a little low when in the 30 - 40 psi range, especially in the upstairs showers. Is it OK to switch to a 40/60 psi switch (and increase the pressure in the tank to 38 psi) given that my pump is only 1/2 HP?

    Hey Joe,

Why go through the expense and hassle of purchasing and installing a new control box when you can simply adjust the old one? Let me show you how.
First turnoff the power at the breaker box, then pull the cover off the pressure switch and you will see two spring loaded bolts secured with nylon nuts. One tall, one short. To increase the cut in pressure, turn the nut on the tall bolt down. To increase the cut out pressure,(that's the one that will give you more pressure) turn the nut on the short bolt down. This should give you the additional pressure you desire. Your 1/2 horse pump should handle the extra PSI with no prpblem. Good luck Tom

    Thanks Tom,
That's what I thought, but it's great to get a confirmation from someone who knows a lot more than me on the subject. I will try adjusting the old switch as you suggest!
