I have a doxie puppy who urinates when she is excited. I previously had a adult female who did the same. Yet my sister's male does not do this. By excited I mean when someone comes over who she likes or when I am trying to pick her up but she thinks she is in trouble. Is this a problem with just females? Any one have any suggestions? :confused:

My Jack Russell does this quite often... mostly when you bend down to take her leash off but has done it in excitement too. Doctor took battery of tests... no bladder/urine problems. It's a behavior problem most likely and hard to train... been trying for over 2 yrs now :(

A young puppy maybe on schedule for shots, but shots do not always take. It is not safe to take them around strange dogs. The younger you start obedience training, the more quick the dog learns. I start the day I bring home a 7 week old. The younger the dog, the shorter the sessions must be, only a few repetitions at a time.

Playing tug of war and losing helps too, Careful with a Doxie. They can easily misunderstand who is who as they get a little older. In the end, you take the rope or whatever, and put it away.

Accidents and damaged possessions are the fault of whoever was watching the puppy. When you are watching it, immediately correct it as soon as it goes for anything except its own toys. In a quiet, but firm voice ''Bad dog, its name drop!''. Gently remove what ever and replace it with one of her toys. Later hold eye contact until the puppy drops it.


A dog that has not been crated since it was little, make take some work.
Start just putting its toys and treats in the crate. Praise it for going
