    Changing my children's name
Can I change my children's surname from their fathers to my husband as their father as nothing to do with them?

My understanding is that the only way that this can happen is if the childrens' father relinquishes his parental rights and agrees to the adoption. Even though the father does not have anything to do with them, he has not officially/legally relinquished his rights. If, however, he has relinquished them, then you can do this. At any rate, speak with a lawyer in your state who would be best able to give you definite answers to this and how to proceed. I hope that this helps!!

Depending on where you live, you can post an announcement in the newspaper and if no one objects you can change the child's name. The other sounds more like if your husband was willing to adopt your children the father would have to sign his rights over.
