Monitor? or video card? one's bad
Just recently I started to noticed what looked like my monitor starting to go. I began to notice that any dark lines on my screen were starting to 'smear' across the screen horizontally. So I thought it was my monitor as it was a few years old. So today I received my new one. The problem still persists, so now I'm thinking its possibly my video card. Has anyone had any problems like this?

    Thanks

Yeah I had this prob, too. Have you check your mobo, bios are good and up to date? If you have not flash update your bios, you might try it. Don't do it unless you know what you're doing. More than likely, the VRAM on your original video card may be leaking, just like a memory crd, since you said you had bought a brand new monitor. Even a generic monitor brand should work. In that case, try a brand name video card like CREATIVE LABS or ATI with at least 32MB.

    Hey,
A rule of thumb for troubleshooting, when potentially replacing parts is to replace the cheapest one first.
