    emo color
I need help with coloring my daughter's hair. She loves the "emo" look and she wants her hair (which is dyed a level 3.5) to have blonde streaks on the top across the bangs so that it looks like it's fanned out. She also wants other random thick streaks. Now, I'm showing my age, but... HUH?
Any help would be great!

It's best to have a professional hairstylist color or highlight your daughter's hair. Coloring her hair at home with a store bought product could be disastrous.

    Don't DO IT AT ALL!!
Believe me I've coloured my hair all sorts of colours in the past, and I'm facing the consequences now, I'm only 18 and my hairs in terrible condition.
I've had the emo black hair with highlights, if it goes wrong nothing will get rid of it, I've been growing mine out for the last 5 months.
Consider this before you do anything drastic

OK so make her draw it out for you, make sure its what she wants and let her know the upkeep is going to take a lot of money and time, go for it, she is lucky as I was to have a mom who will let her do what she wants, and by the way professional is best for this, bad things can happen! But its just hair right, growing it out can be fun, I shaved mine once to start all over and that was fun, corse back then it shocked the hell out of everyone except my cool mom who let me do what I wanted! Its not so different now.

I know what you are talking about!

But best way to go, honestly, is do do it professionally (sp?). I know I know, its expensive :( (I dye my hair all the time, and just went to the salon for purple for the first time ever)

However, if you really think you can do it, have her get a picture to show you

I have pink hair, I'm emo and 12, you can get colors over at hot topic or at a regular store.mostley emos color their hair black first and them they put like blonde in there hair (mostley girls do that!) . Then people would usually know that she's emo! Hehe! XD O_o

My hair is purple and I went to a professional it's a much better idea.. but don't just go to anyone make sure its someone who knows exactly what they are doing.. luckily I found one!

My friend kayla colored her own hair a teal color and it looks good the first couple days but after that.. its blah. Not good at all.

[p.s.you don't have to be emo to have unusual colored hair]

Does she want the lighter pieces to lay flat across the top of her bang or to pop out randomly like a little "peek-a-boo"? What we usually do at my salon is just do some placement packets where she wants to lighter pieces. Instead of doing it like a typical foil where you weave out cerain hairs take a slice about an 1/8 of an inch thick and 3-4 inches long. Place it in a foil with lightner. You may need to do anywhere from 5-8 of them back to back if she wants a larger chunk of blonde laying on top. If she wants some pieces peaking through just do random slices through out her bang area. I hope this makes sense... Doing those can be complicated! Good luck!!
