About to take Promethium, can I get pregnant?
I haven't had a period in 2 months. My OB just prescribed promethium to me. My husband and I are trying to get pregnant. Can I get pregnant on promethium or does it stop me from getting pregnant?

Do you mean Prometrium? This drug is meant to start a menstral cycle. It is not safe if you are pregnant, but I don't know if it will prevent pregnancy - I know it isn't a contraceptive. I would think if it is working to start menstration though, that it would be difficult to get pregnant... unless it is just meant to kick start ovulation... someone else may be better suited to answer... good luck.

I assume you meant Prometrium. It can be used to restart periods that have stopped. It is not recommended to be used during pregnancy. You should talk to your doctor to find out if there is something else you can take because you are trying to get pregnant. Or at the very least tell your doctor you are trying to get pregnant. If you do become pregnant you should talk to your doctor immediately about stopping the Prometrium.

Yes I meant prometrium. My doctor does know that I am trying to get pregnant. I am hoping that this drug will get me to ovulate again, so that I may become pregnant.

I am still not entirely sure it could even happen. If she is put on this medication, it is to make you bleed or menstrate. If you have not had a perios, then most likely you did not ovulate... no ovulation means no egg, and no possibility of pregnancy... I would also suggest talking to your doctor. Make sure they are aware that you are Trying to conceive. I would be very leary of going on this drug. May I ask how old you are?

Well I guess the doctor would know best... thats why he paid so much to learn it... lol... I understand why you may be unsure though, it doesn't quite sound right to me, but I never went to medical school either... good luck..

I am 24 years old. I have a 5 year old son. I guess the right question to ask would be - will this drug get me regulated and make me ovulate so that I can get pregnant. I will only be on it for a short time.
