    What the h--- is wind blocks? And why block the wind that generates the draft to properly vent sewer gases? Must be me.

    I don't exactly know either, but I learned that in order to redirect the smell from the patio, this is what I should do.

    No, I don't. I found this information online and that's all that was said - extend the vents and install wind blocks.

    Well, wind blocks generally interfere with the intended operation of the vent, so I cannot recommend their use.

    Is re-routing the vent termination through the attic space so it terminates on the other side of the house an option?

    You shouldn't have to extend the vents to install wind blocks. There are several types of wind block/vent caps. This is just one of them,(see image) Regards, Tom
