    Custody of the dogs
My fiancée and I broke up a year ago, and I kept the dogs. Now that I have moved on with my life she wants to take the dogs, can she do this legally?

Sure, if you let her... there are no rights when it comes to dogs... if you bought them together, she probably deserves to see them though...

Pets are considered property in the eyes of the law. So, who bought them, who has paid for most of the care and upkeep while you were together, etc. If the dogs were acquired during the relationship, why do you feel that you have more right to keep them than she does? And finally, perhaps a compromise would be to have each of you keep one of them?

I like froggy's idea - since you have dogs - share them and let it go. Is it worth going to court over? Or is she demanding both dogs and is petitioning the courts for such? Some people just love to waste court time.
