I've asked on other forums, and struck out.
Please explain the origin of the term "street" as a type of fitting. I know what one is; I'm looking for the word's entomology.

What do you mean by "a type of fitting"
And have you tried wikipedia or Google?
If you haven't done plumbing, especially DWV (drain, waste, and vent) piping, then it may be too detailed to grasp. Suffice it to say that it works as an adjective the same way that "male" and "female" can describe plugs and receptacles.
And yes, I have searched all ways on the web, including Wiki and Google.
I'm curious, why in the world would you want to know?
Erm, and isn't entomology the study of insects?
It is -- Ever wonder about the etymology of entomology?Quote:

No?
Me neither.:D
But I'm still "bugged" about that street word.
Where did they get it?
Honestly, I have no idea.Quote:
