No heat from dryer. Burning rubber smell.
I was using my Whirlpool dryer on high heat to get wrinkles out of a pair of paints. All of a sudden I smelled burning rubber, and the garage was filled with smoke. After cooling things down, we tried the dryer. It works but does not have any heat. Got any ideas about what is wrong?

It sounds like maybe your heating element shorted out, can you remove the back of the dryer and pull the element to inspect it?

Does the drum in the dryer rotate (open the door when it is drying and see if it stops spinning)? If not, it could be a dryer belt. Happened on my parents dryer about 10 years ago.
