    Getting out of debt
We have a number of credit card payments each month and it is difficult to keep up with them. It was suggested to me to take out a loan and pay them all off as well as some other bills we need to cover, then we only have one larger payment to make instead of a number of small ones. Is this a good approach or will this just lead to more trouble?

If you can discipline yourself to stop using the credit cards, then a consolidation loan might help you.

A consolidation loan might help. You might also want to consider calling each credit card company and seeing if you can negotiate a payment plan for less interest with payments that you can afford. It worked for me. Although, I know that some credit card companies will not be as willing to negotiate.

Another thing to try is to transfer some of the balances on which you owe to the credit card that charges the least interest rate. I have done this also. For some credit cards, the transfers count as actual payments.

Consolidation rarely works.. most people don't change the habits that brought on the trouble in the first place. You can't borrow your way out of debt.

I tried that and wound up in deeper debt so I did a radical program that eliminates your credit card completely just once. Consolidation doesn't work long term I went to Integrity Debt Options - Home but it only works in the US.
