Refused Legal Aid Is there Any where else I can try
Our Ex foster daughter 27 as lost custody of her daughter to the baby's father. She as slight learning disabilities nothing major. She as looked after Jessica for 6 years without any problems. Last year She had another daughter and the baby's father gave her a lot of hassle she ended up living in a refuge for about 2 weeks. Last August the father of the oldest daughter paid 700 pounds to obtain custody of the eldest daughter. She is now living with him.

One of the reasons he and Social services have given for him having custody is that the foster daughter as Mental health problems. She as been assessed on 2 separate occasions once by a Psychiatric Nurse and by Psychiatrist and they have both found nothing seriously wrong with her The baby's father as told lies to try and dis-credit her and the social services have dredged through he past life bringing up things that happened at infants school.Following the report from the Psychiatrist the court have told the Social Worker to change her report We believe that she will only change it slightly and will still try to show the Foster Daughter in a bad light.

Our daughter used to have over night stays but when social services published their original report Jessicas father stopped her having her over night this is despite in 6 years Jessica as not be harmed in any way
She is now seeing Jessica once a week at a contact centre. The people who run the centre have concerns about Jessica as she came 3 weeks a head lice infection and with various cuts and bruises which Jessica seemed to be rather cagey about. The father stopped bringing her to the contact centre because he had been reported to the social services and he also stated that the daughter was not feeding or helping with her home work in the 1 hour contact she had with Jessica.

The Foster Daughter is trying to take legal action against Social Services and Jessica father for the Character assassination she as suffered at there hands.

Unfortunately she can not obtain legal aid because she is receiving that with her custody case which is ongoing.

Have you any suggestions where we might be able to obtain legal aid from. We have tried the ombudsman but they do not want to get involved in a court case.

    Regards
    Sue

    Hello Sue
Just a thought attorneys in the US will occasionally take cases on a contingency basis taking their fees as a percentage of any damages awarded. Do they do so where you are?
