If you are Rh- you need the injection. You see, if you are Rh- and Daddy is Rh+, what happens is similar to a viral reaction. Your body begins to fight against itself. It is a very serious and potentially fatal condition for you and/or baby.

It is very important that you find out the blood type of the father. If he is negative you are safe, if positive, well that is a different story.

If you are both RH- the baby has to be RH- as well, yes. Plenty of women have these injections every year with good results, so if your hubby is RH+ I suggest you have the injection.

I'm rh- and you will definitely want to get the shot. It could save your life and that of your child's if your man isn't negative.

The issue is not about this pregnancy as much as about future pregnancies. God forbid something happen and you end up pregnant by someone other than your current partner... that person could be Rh+. You cannot predict the future. Even if you plan to be with current partner forever you could be raped, something could happen to your partner, etc. Protect yourself and any possible future pregnancies by getting the shot. Before I had my daughter I feared having anything injected into my body. That all changed while I was pregnant. You have to do what is best for your child's health and your own especially while carrying the child. It is always scarier when it involves basically being injected with someone else's blood. The only calming factor I can give you is that science has in the past 10 - 20 years advanced greatly. The risk is so low that it should be one of the last concerns you have in your mind. The screening process it endures is relentless and thourough.

My wife is negative and I am positive and my wife needed the injection when they suspected a miscarriage. When she was at 28 weeks she also had an injection. It is considered safe and the shot does not have any mercury in it. That was a concern years ago but now they have the shots that do not have any mercury in it.

This is very important and it is to protect the baby. Please do not worry about the injection. Like others said there are many many couples that have the wife Rh negative and the husband to have Rh positive. It is so common.

Are you thinking about getting the injection I am 12 weeks pregnant and I am A negative and the father is O pos
