Yes another dusty room, different from the rest.
Hi my names chris and I'm new to this forum. But I just moved into a new home, and my attic where I put my office and bed is extremely dusty. It has like a cheap thin carpet down, and when I lifted it up there was so much dust on the ground I was surprised. I own my own business so I do a lot of work and spend a lot of time in the attic and then I normally sleep in the bed and I've never had allergies and this year I got them.

There is also no current air flow or filters for up here. There are 4 windows upstairs, but they are all brand new. Im thinking about gutting the whole room and possibly cleaning it? Maybe putting pergo flooring down? I need some sort of solution being this is my main bedroom.

    I would appreciate anyone's advice.

    Thanks in Advance

Start with the cleaning - everything goes out the window - the bed, the flooring, window treatments if you have them. Start at the top and work your way down. Ventilate while you clean and please wear a safety type mask so you are not inhaling the dust and/or any other airborne material. Once you have accomplished the cleaning, you will have time to assess what you have & how you want to cover that floor. Check the walls and ceiling also - do you need further insulation? What about the windows? Can you open them, are they screened? I would even get a new bed and mattress. With something that dusty, you don't need to be sleeping on that. Even when you have gotten what you think all the dust out, there will still be significant amounts left.

Good luck. You have a considerable project there but very doable.

Do you think after I gut out the room and place like hardwood or pergo flooring it'll make the rooms easier to deal with the dust issue? Because the thin carpet I feel as if the dust from the floor goes right through and on up to the air when I'm walking on it. I should have def. check a little better before I put all my stuff up here.

Yes, the change in flooring would help, as you can more eaaily clean hardwood or pergo flooring. Live and learn - we all have done things like that and know better the next time.
