Can a widow and widower be on same title and get both tax credits even though only 1 husband is deceased?

Let's see - a widow marries a widower, and the two of them buy a house, right? So sure, they can both be on the deed, why not? Of course there's only one deceased hsuband (the widow's former spouse).
