Living with imaginary characters
My boy friend has some peculiar problem. I think he had the feeling of loneliness from his childhood though he was born and brought up with 3 siblings. Even everyone at home shows care and love for him. But he has some kind of inferiority complex I think, for his looks, his behaviour. He has created some imaginary characters within himself. As far I know there are 3 boys and 3 girl characters. He feels very comfortable speaking with them. He feels they are better than human friends. He is so intelligent. He has come to a position in his 4 years of experience of which no one of his age can think of. He has good reputation in his institution. He has some good friends around still he never feels close to anyone. Our relationship started 10 months back. From the start we never had some common understanding. We used to fight all times. He expects me to be like his imaginary girl friend I think. He gets hurt often with me. So after 10 months he feels that he cannot live with anyone. He is happy with his imaginary characters. No one can keep him happy. And he tells that nowadays he looses conscience often. He goes to a state where he is not able to understand what is happening around. He says he hears all the 'things' speaking. He is telling his computer speaks to him when he writes an error program. His bike speaks with him, tree speaks with him. He is telling he is able to hear the voice. I think he goes deep inside his imaginary world so he is losing conscience and hears such voices. I want to give him confidence that people are there for him. I want to bring him out of his imaginary world and make his happy. I feel if he is left like this it will lead to some mental disorder for him. He is one intelligent person with high dreams. Is there any need to contact a psychiatrist and have some medications for this. Is this really a mental disorder... Please advise
