    under weight cat
My cat eats 2x meals of felix wet meat a day. She is 2 years of age and has had quite a lot of health problems in her short life, which seem to have resolved but she is very skinny and doesn't seem to put any weight on is there any supplements for her food that may help her gain a little weight or does anyone know of any other way to ensure that she stays healthy.

Have you tried feeding the cat kitten food and see if she gains weight? You might want to talk to the vet and see what they recommend though.

Yes, definitely speak with your vet to find out if she is actually underweight or just naturally skinny. The wet food is not really nutritionally complete. I would give her free choice of a good kitten chow such as Purina per your vet. If she has had a lot of heath problems, was she tested for FIV and Leukemia? Both of these are fatal and cause numerous health problems including low body weight. If she is positive for either of these diseases, you just make do and treat her symptomatically and ensure no contact with other cats. Hopefully, this is not the case with your kitty. Speak with your vet soon! A phone call is free!

May I ask what the health issues were previous to the weight concerns. That could give allot of useful info in collecting treatment that produce results, VS try before you die as we say. Keep in mind in small animal medicine our patient has difficulty telling us what is wrong an we have to rely on clinical signs and owners observations. That's one very reason we had to to attend more schooling then human MD's. Inclosing I think it's a logical guess that your cat is current on vaccines an couldn't possible have fip, and fiv with many trips to the Vets office primarily due to the fact they are EXTREAMLY contiguous an even younger vets in practice know better than continuous exposure to his healthy clinic, unwelcomed.
