My fiancé and I have been wanting to get pregnant for a while now. For the last 8-10 months we have been trying more and more and still we end up with a period every month.

I want to know what I'm doing wrong, or what I should do to improve my chances.

I was a smoker, and I gave that up to start my little family

I did have 2 abortions previously.. back about 5 to 7 years ago.

Could these abortions be the problem.

I want to go to the doctor to get examined to see if anything is wrong with me but I'm always scared of the response I would get so I don't end up going.

I did though go once just to talk to a doctor and he told me to wait a year and then if nothing then maybe go see a specialist on this pregnancy stuff. Its now been 10 months and still nothing.

Before going to see a doctor, I want to know if there is anyone that could help me with trying to figure out a way.

I've heard things about Ovulex to help get people pregnant, does it really work?

Hi. First relax - the more stressed out you get - the less likely you will be to get pregnant. Also, have you started a prenatal vitamin? Your body needs the extra 400mg of folic acid. Have you started tracking your ovulation? Do that so you know when the optimal times to conceive are each month.

I just want to be a mommy so bad... I'm not getting stressed out about it just wanted to know some info that's all..

Trust me, when I was ready to get pregnant - I wanted it right then! So - I understand your frustration. It's okay.
Go to your doctor - I know you are nervous - but do it. You will need to make sure (if nothing else) that you can stand to be around this dr. for 9 months. And if you want this person to deliver your baby. Also you want to make sure that everything is okay and you are physically ready to conceive.
Abortions can leave scar tissue - that is true. It may or may not be part of the problem. This is one other reason you need to go to a dr.

When you track your cycle - you should be fertile about 14 or so days after the 1st day of your period. Having sex ALL the time is not always a good thing (or so I have heard). The theroy is is that if your partner is ejaculating all the time - the swimmers won't be as in abundance as if you wait a couple of days before ovulation.

I understand wanting to be a mommy. It is a beautiful feeling, but a tremendous responsibility. I had my first when I was 22 and my fourth when I was 38. I look back now and see how much harder it was at such a young age.

Just make sure you are ready for this lifelong commitment before you jump into it. Make sure that your boyfriend/fiance will stay with you for the longhaul. It is easier (and cheaper) for a man to walk away without a marriage than it is if he is totally committed to you through marriage.

Please do not think I am judging you, I am not, we just see posts here ALL THE TIME about how they "wanted to get pregnant" and now "he has left" and "how can I get him to sign his rights over" etc.

We are ready to have a family we are both 24, its not something we are rushing into.. we know what we want..

We are engaged and getting married in October, I'm looking forward to starting that little family when we are married.

I just want to make sure that I can give my husband to be babies.. I don't want to deprive him of this joy...

Good for you for waiting!! I am glad that you seem to be well informed and ready to make a wonderful family.

Now it is possible that the prior abortions could be a culprit, however, as suggested above, it would be in your best interests to have a pre conception check up to make sure that everything is in "working order."

It is also possible that the stress of getting married as well as everyday stress could be causing the delay.

What do they do in preconception check ups..

I've read lots of books, and they mention having a check up but don't actually tell you what you have to go through.

I have been trying to conceive for a little over 3 years now.
Even when you don't get pregnant every month, just be glad you are having a period.
That means that you ARE ovulating (in most cases).
I have heard of ovulex also, but never tried it.

I understand what your going threw. Me and my Fiancé have started Trying to conceive in December of 2009 and it is now September of 2010 and we are still not pregnant. This month (September) is our 10th month Trying to conceive and yes it is so frustrating.
