My friends are in an argument about their cars and it's very stupid! I just kind of wanted to see who is actually right in this.

Do it legal. Tell them to take it to the track and find out. IMO, the 2.4L TC will win out.

Do you mean faster, as in top speed? Or more quick as in 0-60 or to the 1/4 mile?

Car and driver 8/2004 Scion tc: o-60 in 7.4 sec 1/4 mile in 15.7 @88mph top speed 127mph
FUEL ECONOMY
EPA city driving: 22 mpg
EPA highway driving: 30 mpg
C/D-observed: 24 mpg


Car and driver 1/06 honda civic hybrid : 0-60 in 10.8 to 12.3 sec depending on 'charge'
Standing 1/4-mile: 18.3 sec @ 78 mph, 19.1 sec @ 75 mph depending on charge
They don't list a top speed , but it took more than 37sec to get to 100 mph
EPA city driving: 49 mpg
EPA highway driving: 51 mpg
C/D-observed: 40 mpg
