    Teeth whiteners
I was wondering if anyone has used those teeth whitening strips and how well do they work? Also, it seems that it would be unsafe to swallow any saliva due to the bleach (or whatever they use in the product) mixing with your saliva. Should you constantly be spitting when using these products or should I just not worry about it?

My daughter used Crest White Strips and it did whiten her teeth. They weren't Hollywood white - but who needs to light up Las Vegas anyway. :)

Use them twice a day for 30 minutes.

All the ones I have used work. It's peroxide by the way. As long as you follow the directions I would think they should be safe. I have been using this listerin teeth whitening rinse, it works well but takes allot longer to work. But have used the crest and colgate ones in the past and they all worked good.

The Crest strips are safe. The whitening gel is impregnated on the strip so there is no oozing of the peroxide so you don't have to worry about swallowing it. You may experience some sensitivity while going through the whitening process but the sensitivity will go away once you have reached the shade you want. I always suggest to my patients that they brush with a sensitivity toothpaste like "Sensodyne" for a week or two before they start to use the strips and continue with that paste until they are done with the strips.
After the 30 minutes and you remove the strip wipe your teeth with a tissue or brush them and you won't taste a thing. Actually, the gel is quite tasteless.
