    Meter change out?
I have just purchased a home built in 1906 and we are going to have the utilities updated. I have plumbed 3 houses including the one I currently live in an plan to do the work on this house as well; however none of them have been this big. I want to make sure that I do not run into problems later. The meter has 3/4 coming in at an avg 44psi. The home will have 4 toilets, 3 tub/shower, 1 bath tub, 4 bath sinks, kitchen sink, washer and 3 outdoor faucet. It will be about 100' to the furthest point which will end at the water heater. I think I have three choices: run 1" to the water heater out of the 3/4 meter. Have the meter changed to a one inch and run 1" to the water heater (about $700) or use a storage tank. What is the best option?

Your best option would be to increase the meter and service to one inch. Next best would be a pressurized storage tank. Worst is if you increase to 1" after a 3/4" meter you will have choked the line down to 3/4".
    Good luck, Tom
