n00b issues with linux - hosting own domain.
OK if there's any guru's out there willing to help I'd appreciate it greatly..
So I've stumbled through installing kubuntu 6.10 on an old box I had sitting around and my aim with it is to host two domains from it, using separate ports as required, to serve webpages, email, build dns servers and nameservers, to run one ircserver and to host an ftp server also...

The stumbling block I have presently is that while I can get the domain to point to the IP address it is such that when attempting to get to the domain its like the external IP isn't talking to the internal one, so far I've already opened up the port on the router as required but yeah.. any input appreciated :)

It doesn't sound like this is a Linux problem. It sounds more of a "router" problem. It could be that NAT is getting in the way or perhaps you didn't setup your Linux server's IP address to be in a DMZ (some routers have provisions for that).

So what type of router are you using for this? Can you describe your architecture?
