My PC give me that error each time when I turn it on,"This application has failed to start because Trident.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem." Please help me to solve this problem.I have this problem more then one year.

Time to scan your system for viruses/spyware as the referenced file is used by malware:

Defrag is an inbuilt function in XP.

This lot should resolve your issue.

I think your system is infected with some trojan virus. Are you using any Antivirus programmes. Have you ever run an Antispyware in your system? You should first try to scan you computer with the AV as well as the Antispyware programmes to find out the infection.

May I ask which application is causing this error?

There's three possibilites that may be a resultant:

- If you have any damaged components of Sygate Software (Firewall Software)
- If you have any damaged components of Trident Microsystems
- Malicious software has either damaged the DLL or has made fake error messages.

If this is the case, try un-installing and re-installing the software.
Please let me know. Be sure to run a full Virus scan in Safe Mode (F8 at the boot screen)
