    Shower Drain Odor
Our guest shower has a sewer odor, and we have repeatedly filled the trap, but odor remains. It drains very fast, so is probably not clogged. Slab house in AZ, is there likely a roof vent for the shower only? Toilet is nearby. Know nothing about vents.

    Hey Dave,
Your shower is vented through the lavatory vent. Shower drain odor's caused by rotting hair and grease from the soap.
Try this. Remove the two screws holding the strainer. (TIP; put the screws in the soap dish before they get lost down the drain.) Shine a light down there and with a bent coathanger fish out any hair that may be hiding down there. Then pour a 1/2 gal. of bleach down into the trap and let it set over night. The bleach will make the hair slippery and deodorize the drain and the boiling water will loosen the grease and flush it out into the main. Good luck, TOM
