My husband and I had a credit card with chase for a long time,over 15 years I believe.
My husband is havig an affair with another women and took out credit card in his name using her address and phone number.Chase can see there are 3 credit cards,One in my name and two has her name and address.
Can I sue chase for not informing me of those credit cards.They have my name and address,phone number and never informer me.Yet when these credit cards are not paid they can go after our joint checking and saving account.Chase never question about different address and phone numbers. Yet I know they will go after my bank acounts. I believe its neglect on there part.

In certain states, as long as you are married to him, you are considered to be in "agreement" with his debts, and therefore are responsible for them.

You could always use his personal info, pretend to be him, and have the cards cancelled. Although it is a sneaky and underhanded thing to do, just imagine them at the fine steakhouse trying to pay their bill...

File fraud claim against that user of the card.

Of course if your husband took the card out for her, and gave it to her, their may be nothing you can do. If he did not, your husband needs to sue for fraud since it was his identity that was stolen.

Do you know if you are a joint account holder? If yes, you can close the accounts.

If he has that account in his name only, then that is something you and your divorce attorney will have to contend with.

Your beef is with the husband, not Chase.

Yess the beef is with my husband but it doesn't stop chase for going after the bank accounts,saving and possible lien on house.I felt like chase could have warn me.
I tried cancelling cards but chase refused saying he is primary.So here is this huge debt I never new about but I'm responsible.I feel like chase had my name and number they could have inform me.

Mortalcandy, if you are not on the cards, you are not responsible for the debt. That won't stop them from going after joint accounts, so it is important that you get an attorney and secure your financial position now.

I worked for a credit card issuer and they will make you feel like you are indebted to them when you are not. If you are not a primary or joint account holder, you have no responsibility.

Chase hasn't done anything wrong at all. They are not required to inform spouses what their husband does with his card. He cheated and sneaked around and then doesn't pay the bills. They can go after his money in your jount account. I have three addresses and none of this is Chase's business.

So If I start saving up money in my own account with just my name on it, is the money safe or will chase come after it. I really need to save up some money.THe credit cards are only in my husband name.Thank you guys, your answer are really helping me

If you are not a primary or joint holder of the account and are only listed as an authorized user, you have no obligation to the credit card company.

Is he in default? It will go to collections, then a lawsuit then a garnishment before they can go after a bank account. If his name isn't on the account, I don't see how they could try to seize it.
