    Apartment lease
I just made a full months deposit and signed a year lease for an apartment. I have not moved into the apartment yet. I am having second thoughts. Can I get my deposit back and void the lease? I signed the lease, yet it doesn't begin for a few more days! The date of lease says 4-30-07, Beginning of lease says 5-15-07 and I still have to pay the rent for this month before I get the keys.

Normally NO, if the actual lease gives you that option to back out withint a period ( one to three days) a few do, most don't.

And of course you can ask the landlord to let you get out of it, A real nice landlord may, or may for a small fee for their time.

But most likely you are stuck into it.

Read your lease. If you haven't moved in yet, you may be able to talk your Landlord out of it but may have to pay some sort of penalty deducted from the deposit. Also, your lease may have terms in it regarding subletting. If they allow the sublet, you may be able to get out of the lease that way. If not, you're stuck with a year's lease.
