Desire - Medium brown hair


Hey everybody, how are you? I'm new here as you can tell :) This messageboard looks like a great place to ask questions and help answer questions about Anything & Everything (even the little things) so expect to see more postings ;)

The thing is, I have black hair (or really, really dark brown hair thats almost black). Dying my hair twice a month can be really pricey/costly when done at a professional place. Doing it on my own can be better and less expensive but still expensive. I'm not sure if this exists, but is there a hair-dying-shampoo that dyes your hair from black to medium brown (or light brown)?. Of course it would take time. I could get my hair wet, apply the shampoo and not wash it off till the end. The meantime, I could wash off my body with bodywash, and by the time that's done, it's given time for the shampoo to colorize.

If this did exist, it'd save me both money and time, plus there'd be no worries of your roots to show.. it'd always be medium brown cause we all take showers everyday and use shampoo right? Heh. I'm guessing after it's done, I should get a blonde-shampoo to maintain the color so it doesn't fade right? I already have a few (John freida). I think putting the blonde-shampoo on medium-brown hair would not make it blonde, but just maintain a rich brown color. (correct me if im wrong?)

Besides the hair-dying-shampoo, I'm pretty positive there's a "Gel" (or something of that sort) where you just put on damp/moistierized hair and over time, it changes. I think I saw it on the tyra bank's show a while ago? But it was to change dark hair to a bright pink/blue/green hair, heh. My #2 question is, is there a gel that dyes black hair to medium hair? If so, what are the names of these products and where can I get them? target? professional salons? local small salons? beauty shops?

Dying hair professionally or at home using the products that sting the scalp & have all these funky chemicals are great but I'm just looking for other easy ways & alternatives of dying hair. Heh. If anybody knows, it'd mean so much. I'd appreciate it a lot. Heck, i'll even worship you.... ;)

Hair coloring shampoos are deposit only colors, which won't lighten your hair. In order to go a few shades lighter, you would have to use a permanent color with a higher volume peroxide developer. If you don't want to use chemicals on your hair, try using colored hair sprays. They are temporary spray on colors that shampoo out.

A good friend of mine uses "Just for Men" in his beard, it takes like 5 minutes and its about $6.00 for a box, and I know they die for mens hair, specifically formulated etc. It is also set (at least for the beard) so that you don't have to mix it all at once and therefore if your hair is short you actually have several applications. :)

I agree with prettylady I looked at Sally's Beauty supply the lady told Me that is was a mess to use the shampoo. But the just for Men sounds real easy look on the Internet read to see what it says like Michele said it may have several applications.

Worship away, but there is nothing that will color your hair except hair color, whether done professionally or at home. There is a color foam that washes out every day, but you can only do dark, as it will not lighten your hair. It's basically for blending away grey. Another option would be to go to a local beauty supply store and buy hair color and developer. You could probably get a couple applications per bottle and it would work out cheaper in the long run. Ask the clerk to help you choose a color , don't guess. Good luck

I need URGENT help guys!! I have tried many hair colour products, but my skin gets irritated by all of them! Im 31 years old male with natural black hair, but I'm getting a lot of greys and I desperately want to get rid of them. I have been using the hair products over and over again (even though I know I shouldnt), but I don't know what other options I have! I have tried black henna, but it irriates my skin as well. I have tried Amonia free hairdyes, but it hasn't worked either. Is there a shampoo that overtime gets rid of greys? Or even a hairgel that would get hide the greys?
