    I would like to know when an F1 visa holder can file tax form as a resident (due to staying more than 5 years), should he/she need to send 8843?

    If you file as a resident alien filing Form 1040/1040A/1040EZ, you do not have to file Form 8843.

    The purpose of the Form 8843 is to account for the days under F-1 visa that are not counted towards the Substantial Presence Test.
