Honda Civic battery light and speedometer
I've got a '97 Honda Civic LX, 4-dr, automatic transmission, AC, and about 63K miles. The problem: the battery light was coming on occasionally, even with a new battery. Mechanic could find nothing. Now the light is coming on and staying on most of the time. Car has no starting problems. The speedometer needle is bouncing around on occasion also. Still no starting problems and the car otherwise runs great.

Any hints?? I'd like to have a bit of information before I go to a mechanic with credit card in-hand.

Idle RPM may be so low that it causes the battery light to come on.
