    Leaking Showerpan
We had a plumber come out to tell us that our upstairs shower does not have a shower pan installed. Apparently the shower has leaked before we bought the house 5+years ago. The shower is cultured marble or maybe fiberglass on the floor. Is there any way I can correct this problem myself as money is tight. If you take a quick shower there doesn't seem to be a problem, but my daughter, who is 6, takes about a 45min shower. By the time she gets finished the garage floor is all wet. The shower in on the second flooer over my garage.
    Thanks,

    Michael

    Hey Michael,

First off change plumbers. The only time shower pans are installed is if you have a custom tile shower base and enclosure. Is the floor open so you can see the source of the leak? What material is the shower enclosure? Shower door or shower curtain? Back to you, Tom

Speedball1, thanks for getting back to me. To answer your questions, the floor can be open from below as the shower sits above the garage. The shower enclosure is made of cultured marble and is the floor base and the unit uses a shower door. If there are any other questions, please let me know.

    Thanks,

You're going to hafta open up the ceiling and pinpoint the source of the leak. Could be a drain leak. Could leak past the shower door or a leak where the enclosure mates with the base. Your job is to locate the source of the leak while my job is to tell you how to fix it. So where's the water coming from? Cheers, Tom
