How much "people food" can a kitten take?
    Hello!

I have a 2 and 1/2 month old kitten named Auni. She is an adorable, perfectly healthy kitten.
But I have one question, how much people food can a cat have before it starts to create health problems?

My Mom just won't STOP feeding her people food! She gives her EVERYTHING, and of course, Auni eats it. Eggs, Chicken, mayonaise, lettuce potato, even the cream from an oreo cookies! The only thing Auni hasn't eaten that she's been offered is a piece of special k cereal. Of course, my mom doesn't give her HUGE chunks, just a little nibble. But still, we can't get her to stop! She thinks it's "cute" and "wants to see if she'll eat it"

It's not a good idea to give animals human food just because you want to "see if they'll eat it"

My dad says if she doesn't stop one day the cat will get stomach cancer or something and it will be her fault.

So, what kind of foods are REALLY bad? What kinds are "ok" now and then? How much can she eat before it makes her sick?

    Please reply soon, thanks.

Cats usually will eat any thing if you get them used to it. My cat eats only Science Diet ever since she was a kitten and I can't get her to eat any thing else.

As far as what's bad for them to eat, chocolate damages the liver of the cat so be careful.

It's not the amount, it's what exactly the cat eats. A lot of human foods are toxic to cats

Well, any sudden change in diet can cause an upset stomach, vomiting and diarrhea (ick!), so tell your mom that Anui will feel sick. Cats are very good at suppressing symptoms, so she may not feel well and you wouldn't even know it!

Also, there are a lot of food allergies and toxins that we don't know about yet. I mean, it took us years and years to find out that grapes can cause kidney failure! So it's really not about how much she can take, it's about how much you want to compromise her safety.
