    Connecting a kill switch
How do I connect a kill switch on a b&s 14.5hp key/pull start engine for a craftsman lawn tractor. Does it need to be connected

Black wire from under the fan shroud goes to ground to kill engine.

Could you further explain what you want to do? You already have at least three kill switches (safety switches) on the tractor plus your ignition. What would you like to accomplish with another switch? Back to you.

AH, I see now. Sometimes I just don't pay attention to the details.

The wire is black and it comes from the ignition. So where does it connect to on the 14.5hp b&s engine? It used to be connected to a 12.5 hp b&s engine located by the carb. The newer engine doesn't have a wire coming from the carb

It will connect to the wire coming from the ignition coil located under fan shroud. Usually comes out by carb.
