My Lawnmower Craftsman 5.5 model number 917.387160 does not start. I filled it with gas and oil and pushed the button number of times but it does not start. It says one pull start. It has been in the shed since last year. Please let me know what else to look into to get my lawnmower started. Thanking you.

Gas sometimes turns "gummy" like thick turpentine when stored for long periods so drain your gas, put fresh gas in, ck the plug to see if fowled out, change it is probably best, only about $2.00 or so. Don't believe the One pull deal, prime the carb by pushing the primer bulb if you have one, at least 3, maybe even 5 or more times.

Agree with Richard, the FRESH fuel better be bought today and not "sometime recently" and mixed with last years fuel.

You can flush the carb but try new fuel first.
