I got my bfp yesterday now I have a lot of questions
I confirmed it four times and I now have four bfps so its safe to say I am pregnant. I can't go to the doctor until next week. So till then what can I eat and can't eat also what's the best vitamins I can get till I see my doctor? Or should I just wait it out on the vitamins till I see the doctor?

    Congrats!!

Now for the food, just stay away from caffiene and any diet foods or drinks, as well as alcohol. Eat healthy fresh veggies and fruits. Try to stay away from seafood as some seafoods contain mercury (that is still a source for debate so check with your doc on that). Stay away from nicotine also.

As for vitamins, you can go to Wal-Mart and get over-the-counter Prenatal Vitamins that are very good for you.

Get lots of rest, eat healthy, and be good to yourself.

    Congrats again!!

I agree with J_9. Do everything that she said. But small amounts of caffiene haven't been shown to do anything, and I like to take prenatals that have 800mcg of Folic acid. That's very important throughout, and especially in the beginning of the pregnancy. There is no harm in beginning your vitamins right away. Congratulations!!

Heck no, about the caffiene. Doctors recommend you stay away from it, though I am a Pepsi addict and drank Pepsi will all 4 of my pregnancies, they were all happy healthy babies.

800mcg of Folic Acid is the MOST you should take, as what is not used is just released when you urinate. So don't spend any money trying to get more Folic Acid. Most of what you need you can get in your diet, all you are really doing is supplementing what you may be missing.

And I still take Prenatals (I am almost 43 and am done having children) but it helps to keep me in tip top shape.

Caffeine in moderate amounts (according to the experts this is anywhere from 2-3 8oz. Cups a day) is safe during pregnancy. I love my coffee as well. I also have children, 6 to be exact, and they were and are all healthy as can be. Here is some info regarding the caffeine.
    Quick Reference: Caffeine in Pregnancy
Caffeine intake during Pregnancy : American Pregnancy Association
    Caffeine during pregnancy
You may certainly cut out the caffeine if you choose, no one will argue with you I am sure. Completely your choice, but if you would like to have a little there is the information showing it is considered safe.

Folic acid is recommended in amounts of 400mcg prior to conception and between 400 and 800mcg during. Unless you have a history of having children with neural tube defects then you would need to take a much higher dose. Taking the recommended doses above of between 400 and 800mcg will be fine until you see your doctor and find out exactly what dose he/she would recommend for you personally.
