Pump is not ejecting the water through the line. I pulled it out and cleaned it:mad: but when I fill the basin and the floater rises it will not eject the water. Suggestions please.

The float rises but do you hear the motor kick in? You may have a bad switch or even worse, burned out pump motor. Start by bypassing the switch on a bunch test.

99% chance it's the switch so try the bypass. Might double check the power to the motor as well as the plug/outlet. I'd confirm power down to the switch before I even pull the pump.

Where would the bypass switch be? I just checked power to the pump and it is OK. Plugged the pump into two separate reliable outlets and it does not come on. Is it normal for these pumps to burn out? Is there a reset switch? Thanks for your help.

I am sorry if I confused you but it is not a bypass switch I am talking about. The float operates a switch that is enclosed on the top or side of the pump. If you open the enclosure you should see the power lines coming in to the switch and then to the motor. I was suggesting bypassing this switch this switch or at least testing it to see if the switch makes a complete circuit when its closed. No it's not normal for a pump to burn out so quickly but it can happen especially if any debris got into the impeller. Switches should last a very long time too but your motor doesn't run so something prematurely failed.
