I am 16 years old and pregnant by a 20 year old man. I live in Virginia. I want to move out with him but my parents said no . The baby is due in September and I would like the child to live with both parents. I heard from one of my friends that there is nothing that my parents can do legally if I choose to move out but I want to be sure because I don't want my boyfreind in any legal trouble due to this. He can provide everything thing we need and is a great guy but my parents are trying to control the situation. I want to leave but will stay if I must. Please respond so I know what I should do.

As emland pointed out from the linked site your parents could swear out a complaint against your boyfriend and he could be in SERIOUS trouble. Spend time in jail and possible be listed as a sex offender.

So you really do not want get your parents anymore upset at him then they are. At 16 they are still legally responsible for you and they can legally control you to some extent. Your friends are giving you bad advice.

If you are 16, then you have less than 2 years until your 18th birthday. At that point you can marry the guy and move in with him despite your parents. By waiting you also get a sense of your bf's commitment to you and the child.

Maybe if your parents see how committed he is, they will give consent sooner.
