How to erase stuff of the Hard Drive
Hi All, Can anyone tell me how to erase an old O/S from the H/D. I have got a 160GB H/D and I installed Wins 98 then I up-graded to Wins XP Home.I think I followed the instructions to Partition and Format it,but when I had finished all I had left on the H/D memory is 1.86GB's so where did the other 158GB go.HELP!!
    Cheers

When you partitioned the hard drive, did you by any chance create more than one partition? Do you see more than one hard drive listed in my computer (like a C drive, and a D drive)? If so, the "missing" space is in the other partition.
I'm not sure what the upgrade process does with the old Win 98 files, but rest assured, worst case, Win 98 is not taking up more than a couple of gigs of hard drive space.

If you did partition into 2 partitions, you'll see an additional drive letter show up in MY COMPUTER. Instead of just a C drive, you'll see a D drive (or possibly another letter) as well. That D drive will will have the 158 gigs and you can put whatever you want on there just like your C drive.

    Cheers,
    Bill
