    Missing My Grand Daughter
Whenever my son and his daughter mother are not on good terms she retaliates by keeping my grand daughter away from me! They are no longer together and I'm tired of her threating me that I will never see my grand daughter again. I would like to know if I should just take her to court to get grand parent visitation rights?

Of course your son, when he gets his visitation can bring the child to see you.

Going through something like this myself. Already have one grandson living with me. All the result of my son remarrying. Luckily I am now seeing some progress. My daughter in-law brought her two small sons (my grandsons) around a few days ago. This is only the third time I have seen them and they are both almost in school!

I don't know if I would have gone to court. They were going through some stuff and I decided to give them some time. It looks like it might be paying off.

I think court should be the last option as it might just cause more hassle and bad feeling. Have you tried talking to her calmly about you wanting to see the child? Even if it meant you visiting her for an hour or so a week. Or inviting her and the child to your house?

It really is a sad state of affairs these day, all these youngsters having kids and breaking up and moving on without a thought for us grandparents.

Good luck. I hope it all works out for the best.

Have you tried talking to the daughter and explaining to her that not only is she hurting you but her daughter as well? How old is the granddaughter? I would not be very happy with my mom if she withheld me from seeing my grandmother or any family member for that matter. Too many parents act so selfish using their kids against everyone and they only end up hurting the kids. They need to do what is best for the kids. I think you should just try to talk to her-I mean I don't know your exact situation, but that is what I would try to do or even write her a letter. A nice letter. At least try that first before court. No expert here-just my opinion.
