Red Wire in ceiling junction box
I am trying to install a chandlier in an existing ceiling junction box, however, the previous home owner did not have a light fixture attached. There are four wires coming out of the box, white, red, black and red. This junction box is connected to a wall switch with a dimmer. What do I connect the red wire to?

Did you mean white, red, black and bare? How many red wires are there? If it is white, red, black, and bare copper, cap the red off with a wirenut. This extra wire is probably for a ceiling fan.

I've connected black to black, white to white and the ground to the other ground wire. The red wire is only coming from the junction box, and controls the switch(currently the light will only go off when I flip the breaker). Where do I put the red?
