    Signing away rights and adobtion
My ex wants to sign away his rights and pay for my husband to adobt my son. He is really behind on childsuport. If I did this would he have to pay all back child suport? And would he really be out of my life forever? I am really debating this because my son is almost three and has never saw my ex.

Yes, I am pretty sure he would still have to pay all the back child support. Well, he might not be out of your life... but he certainly would have no further rights to your son.

If your ex signs away his rights and obligations to allow your new husband to adopt, first he is out of the child's life legally, at least until the child is 12 or 13 and wants to find and meet his "real dad"

As to back child support that would have to be discussed in the paper work where he signs away all his rights and obligations, normally they don't have to pay any more support once the child is adopted.

This is only a choice you and your husband can decide together.

Hello! I am going through a typical ordeal myself... Legally, a biological parent, even without access rights has to provide support, as it is the child's right. If he is not involved and your husband wants to adopt, why not? He doesn't pay support anyway... ultimately, it is the decision you and your spouse will have to make. Good luck!! ;)
