    My Cocker is Sick!
I have a cocker spaniel that is 2 and is not acting himself.. He is normally a good eater, and very playful.. but, today he is just lying around and won't eat, but he also acts like he has to throw up... Does anyone have a clue what is wrong with him? I have a vet, but really can't afford a vet bill right now.. Can anyone please help me?:(

Is he still drinking water? And going #1 and # 2? Does it look normal? Is he eating grass? He may have eaten just something he shouldn't have and his system has shut down. He will try to regurgatate or expel what is hurting him. If he stops drinking, you will need to see a vet. Try some different foods... cook some rice... something soft and bland that he can digest... and keep an eye on him. Good luck.

Take the dog's temperature with an ordinary rectal thermometer if you have one. Put a little Vaseline on it before inserting it. If the dog's temperature is above 102 degrees, it has some sort of infection. If so, it would be best to get it to a vet. Some diseases can be fatal very quickly.

Otherwise, let it go over the weekend and hope for the best. Don't worry about it not eating. Usually it doesn't hurt a dog to go a few days without eating.
