I have the same questionas a previous person, so I have copied the question here: I would like to hear some pros and cons on Goodman versus Rheem. I am currently using a 2 1/2 ton Goodman package unit heat pump to heat and cool my house here in central SC. But it is an older Seer 10 model and I would like to replace it with a Seer 13. The price of the Goodman and Rheem units are almost identical. Any comments on which would be the best?

First of all I do not understand why you would want to replace a working 10 SEER unit for a 13 SEER unit.It will take a long time to recover your cost of the new unit. I would run the 10 SEER till it is shot then by a new 13 SEER.

I do not have on hand the exact figures for energy savings but the difference between a 10 and a 13 is not that much over the course of the cooling season.

Goodman use to be a poor quality heat pump but they have improved a lot in the last few years and I wouldn't hesitate with either one. As hvac1000 said, there's no reason or advantage in changing out the one you have until it fails.
