    Ratios applied
First I want to thank you for this website in coming in the help of people that cannot afford to spend thousands of $ in the preparation for GMAT test too!

Can you help me reviewing 3 term ratio ? I have another problem that confuses me to...

Problem : A trust fund is composed by stocks, bonds and savings in the ratio 3:1:5. If the amount in stocks and bonds was 10.000 how much was invested in savings?

    Thanks in advance
    Ariana/ Dallas

Stocks are 3 parts, bonds are 1 part and savings are 5 parts.

The stocks and bonds make up 10000. So, the stocks are 3 parts of 10000 and the bonds are 1 part of 10000. That's 4 parts. What's 1 part of 10000 if you have 4 parts.

Would it be 2500? Then the stocks are 7500. Now, since 2500 is 1 part, what is 5 parts?
