I remember reading a book in the late 70's that I'd really like to read to my son. It was about a boy who finds a dog but his parents won't allow him to keep it. He finds an abandoned car in the woods near his house and keeps the dog there, visiting him everyday and taking care of him. Does anyone else remember this book? My son is very into books about dogs these days and I think he would really like this one. I'd like to read it again to. Thanks for your help!

It sounds like it could be Shiloh by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor. But Shiloh is a more recent book. Either way it's a great read if your son like books about dogs. It is sad but really worth it.
