I like this guy who has a girl friend, and some of his buddies are throwing a beach birthday party for him and wants me to come. But the thing is, is that his girlfriend will be there and I think that the whole situation will be awkward. It will be awkward because I was kind of involved with the guy and plus everyone who's going to be there are a couple and currently I'm single. Do u think I should go just to show my appreciate for the guy? Or do you think I shouldn't go to serve myself from embarasment? What do you think?? Let me know.

I guess the question is, why would you be going? Based on your question, I can think of a few reasons:

1. You want to see if you can get a relationship going with this guy and you're willing to throw his current girlfriend into a large hole in the sand in an effort to get rid of her.

2. You want to make your girlfriend - the one who wants you to go - happy by showing up.

3. You want to show your support for this guy's birthday, wish him many more happy birthdays, and generally have a good time with some friends at a good party on the beach.

Here's my advice: Go. Have fun. Don't try to make it into a dating scene. Unless you plan on walking up to him and rekindling your relationship in front of his current girlfriend, then I see no reason why it would be awkward other than you choose to make it so. You have the power to choose your reactions to things in life. Choose to make this a fun time, a show of support for your friend's birthday, and a chance to meet people that you might not otherwise get to meet.
