    What tests in first visit?
We are planning to visit a obgyn after 1 year of trying to conceive. What are the preliminary tests normally done?Where will my husbands sperm test be done? Will the obgyn refer to some other doctor or will it be done in a lab?

Most likely it will be done in the fertility clinic if you are advised to see one.

Your ob can do some basic tests like blood testing for hormones, but then yes, more than likely you will be referred to a fertility specialists. Some of the tests they do, are a lot of blood tests (I started to feel like they were vampires!), an ultrasound to check your uterine lining, an HSG (they put dye through your uterus and fallopian tubes under an x-ray to check for scarring and/or blocked tubes), and possibly a uterine biopsy. Most of the things they do are not painful, but can be a little uncomfortable. They will do a sperm count on your husband of course, and they may check to see if your 'environment' is condusive to your husbands sperm.

Hang in there. The first couple of visits are the most stressful, but once you begin to get answers and get on a plan, it gets easier.

    Good luck and hugs!
